Gulf of Gokova 8 Days

An 8 day self guided walking tour on the Carian Trail. Starting from Akyaka the route follows forest paths and ancient trails, passing rural villages and pristine beaches before reaching Bodrum (Halicarnassos of ancient times).


March through May and September through beginning of December.

What to expect


Transfer Dalaman to Akyaka

After your arrival to Dalaman Airport, you will be transferred to Akyaka (1 hr). The files and the details about your trip will be ready for you in your hotel. 

Overnight in Caretta Pension, Akyaka 



HIKE Akyaka – Turnalı 15 km

You will start walking directly from the hotel to the market place and merge onto a path heading into the pine forest. The pine-scented route goes through the forest passing by some quaint hamlets. The day finishes in small village of Turnalı. Transfer to Çardak Restaurant for an overnight in a bungalow. This is a nice spot by the sea.

Turnalı – Sarnıç – Datcağız 18 km

The hike starts with a long climb up with rewarding views of the Gulf of Gokova and Datça Peninsula. Reaching an altitude of 700m, the trail passes through a mystical pine forest. At the top you’ll find the fertile fields of Sarnıç Village. The route descends down to Datcagiz on an  old mule trail.  A short transfer takes us to the heavenly bay of Akbük.

HIKE Türkevleri – Bozalan 13 km

After checking out from the hotel, a short transfer takes you to the start of the hike in Turkevleri. Winding up through low vegetation, the path takes us up for nice views of the Aegean. Continuing through the pine trees, you arrive at Bozalan Village. This village is famous for its carpets made with natural dyes. It is possible to see women weaving their local patterns knot by knot.  A short transfer takes us to Çökertme Village by the seaside.

HIKE Bozalan – Çakıllıyalı 14 km

The hike starts from Bozalan, passing over some old terraces and by houses. The old mule trail takes us to Gökbel village which is also famous for its carpets. After having some tea in the village center, continue on the hike overlooking the sea. The day ends as we walk into our small guesthouse by the seaside in Çakıllıyalı.

HIKE Çakıllıyalı – Çiftlik 18 km

We start our day directly from the guesthouse. This old trail had not been used for a long time until it became a part of the Carian Trail. The undulating route passes by many pristine beaches and coves. With maquis, pine trees, olive groves, and strawberry trees, the trail is quite diverse. The path takes us to the Byzantine settlement of Kisebükü and then to Çiftlik. Short transfer to your seaside hotel.

Dinner and Overnight in Şahin Motel.


HIKE Çiftlik – Bodrum 20 km

Transfer back to Çiftlik. Today’s hike passes through some remote villages and hamlets. Running mostly through olive groves, the trail reveals the traditional lifestyle still present just a half an hour from the modern town of Bodrum. Fantastic views of Bodrum Castle accompany you as you walk straight into your hotel in Bodrum.

Transfer to Bodrum Airport

The tour comes to an end with your transfer to Bodrum Airport (1hr).
